Menacing monkey fever... Death toll rises to 2 in Karnataka..!
Two people have died due to monkey fever in Karnataka.
Gyasanur Forest Disease also known as monkey fever is prevalent in states like Karnataka and Maharashtra. It is caused by the bites of parasites that live in the bodies of animals, and people affected by this disease will experience fever, headache, body aches, vomiting, etc. If the disease worsens, nosebleeds and bleeding from the roots of the teeth occur. It is also reported that there will be neurological disorders and mental confusion.
In this context, the number of people suffering from monkey fever in the state of Karnataka is increasing day by day. According to a report issued by the state health department, 2,288 samples have been collected and tested since January 1. It has been confirmed that 53 monkeys have been infected with fever. On January 8, an 18-year-old girl in Hosanagar taluk of Sivamokka district and a 79-year-old man living in Sringeri taluk of Chikkamangaluru died due to monkey fever.
Out of which, maximum 34 people have been affected by monkey fever in Uttara Kannada district. Similarly, 12 people have been posted in Shivamogga and 3 people in Chikkamangalur. With the number of monkey flu cases and deaths on the rise, Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Commissioner Randeep held consultations with health officials. He also advised to intensify the precautionary measures.
