Government of Tamil Nadu brought resolution; Governor RN Ravi walked out in the middle
The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly session for the year 2024 began with the Governor's speech. Governor RN Ravi started his speech by greeting everyone. Wishing this New Year to bring more happiness and prosperity, Governor R.N. Ravi recited the song "Piniinimai Selvam Ekhonpam Emam Miu Natikiv Vaindu Vaindu".

Continuing, he said, “My continuing request and advice is to respect the national anthem. The playing of the National Anthem at the start and end of the program is ignored.
I cannot accept many parts of the Tamil Nadu government's speech on moral and factual grounds. Hail Tamil Nadu, Hail Bharat, Jai Hind, Jai Bharat Thank you!” He concluded his speech with this.The Governor sat in the House without reading the Government's speech in full. This is the first time in the history of Tamil Nadu that the Governor has ignored the Government speech without reading it.

Speaker Appavu finished reading the entire Tamil translation of the Governor's speech. After that, the chairman Durai Murugan proposed a resolution that only the text prepared by the government would be included in the notes.While Speaker Duraimurugan was reading the resolution, Governor RN Ravi walked out of the House. Thereafter, the resolution was brought up in the Assembly and passed unanimously.
Speaking further, Speaker Appavu replied to the governor's request that he would bring to the attention of the members that the Tamil Thai greeting is given at the beginning of the legislative session and the national anthem is played at the end. After that the meeting concluded.
