Constable in Vellore suspended for remarks on Anna University sexual assault case
The police said Anbarasan had been posting comments on the incident of sexual assault on his Facebook page, accusing the State government of being “weak” in handling the case
The Superintendent of Police, Vellore, N. Mathivanan on Wednesday (January 1, 2025) suspended a constable attached to the Vellore Taluk police station for his alleged remarks on social media against the Tamil Nadu government in its handling of the Anna University sexual assault case.
The police said that the constable M. Anbarasan, 38, was suspended with immediate effect under the Tamil Nadu Police Subordinate Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1955. He was posted to the Vellore Taluk police station a few months ago after serving in the CB-CID wing in the district.
