Japan's cybersecurity market is expected to grow to US$6.3 billion by the end of 2035. The market size in 2024 was US$1.2 billion , and is expected to expand at a CAGR of 12.6 % from 2025 to 2035.

The surge in cyberattacks targeting sectors such as banking, healthcare, and manufacturing has heightened the demand for advanced cybersecurity solutions. Notably, since late 2024, approximately 46 entities in Japan, including government and banking institutions, have been targeted by cyberattacks, underscoring the urgency for robust cybersecurity measures .​

In response, the Japanese government has introduced the Active Cyber Defense legislation, submitted to the Diet in February 2025. This bill aims to enhance Japan's cybersecurity response capabilities, including provisions for strengthening public-private sector cooperation and allowing certain government agencies to take proactive measures against cyber threats .​
